Suspected cultists strike again in Anambra, kill three

THree persons were on Wednesday killed in Awka, Anambra State, by a gang of suspected cultists.

The victims were killed in Ifite, in the Awka South Local Government Area around 12.30pm.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the hoodlums operated in a tricycle and shot repeatedly at the Aroma Junction unchalleng­ed for about 20 minutes before they headed for their destinatio­n where they killed three people.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Ikenga Tochukwu, confirmed the incident, adding that the command was on the trail of the killers.

He said, “Investigat­ions are ongoing. No arrest has been made, but rest assured that the culprits will soon be apprehende­d.”

Abatete, in the Idemili South LGA of the state by gunmen.

our correspond­ent learnt that the president of the Udala Football Club, Uke, was kidnapped during the attack and three vehicles burnt; the secretary of the club was among the people killed by the gunmen.

At least eight persons have been killed in Anambra State by gunmen in the last one week.
