NEG seeks southern Christian as President

- Solomon Odeniyi, Abuja

THE National Equity Group on Wednesday said after the eight years regime of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), a Christian from the southern part of the country should take over.

This is just as the Coalition for Peace and Justice Advocates called on the political class to ensure that the Presidency of the

country is rotated among the six geo-political zones and not only between the South and North.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, the National Convener of the NEG, Dr Emeka Nwosu, said the emergence of a southern Christian as President in 2023 would promote fairness and inclusion in the nation, especially at this time of unprecedented national crisis.

Nwosu said, “The country is at the moment facing strife fueled

by religious distrust, suspicion and fear of domination. Things have become so bad that only a delicate balancing act in 2023 can begin to redress these anomalies and restore faith and hope in the country again.

“We strongly believe that the only way to truly promote fairness and inclusion in our diverse and complex society, especially at this time of unprecedented national crisis, is for power to shift to a Southern Christian in 2023.”
