AFD, FAME plan sporting activities for girlchild

THe Agence Francaise de Developmen­t has announced its partnershi­p with FAME Foundation

With the partnershi­p, AFD will provide €20,000 grant to support the NGO’S social developmen­t sports programme for girls and women living in Internally Displaced persons Camps in Abuja was signed on Wednesday.

According to the Deputy Director, AFD, Virginie Diaz, the French agency had been pushing for the use of sports as a tool for education and social change.

“We have been using sports as a tool for education and social change by supporting committed CSOS like the FAME Foundation.

“By the end of 2022, more than 200 girls aged 7 to 17 will benefit from the weekly sports activities and regular sensitisat­ion workshops,” Diaz stated.

The executive Director, FAME Foundation, Aderonke Bello, stated, “We at FAME Foundation are committed to promoting sports developmen­t, especially among girls and women in the

IDP camps.

“There are times we go there and you see the love they have for football, there are times when we reach them and they are not listening, we tell them we will make sure they play games and they get excited.”
