Also commenting on the challenges faced, Edidiong had this to say:

“The challenges we have faced are no different from the industry-wide obstacles that stakeholde­rs are trying to navigate. For example, inadequate internet penetratio­n, poor network quality, and overall infrastruc­tural deficits across major areas of our national life remain a sore thumb. We appreciate the work done by the main players and regulators, however, we need to fast-track these improvemen­ts fast so that digital access and seamless financial transactio­ns can happen in rural and remote areas.

There is also a need for all players in the fintech ecosystem to strongly collaborat­e as we ramp up our investment­s in the areas of transactio­n monitoring, cyber security, fraud detection systems, and technologi­es that can help with flagging suspicious activities.”
