Olori Ronke Ogunwusi Hosts Royal Queens Conference

-

Olori Ronke Ademilyi Ogunwusi, founder of Africa Fashion Week London, Nigeria and Brazil and one of the newly wedded wives of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, recently played host to about 120 queens of traditional kingdoms across Nigeria at the palace of the Ooni. It was the first ever Royal

Queens Conference in Nigeria and it was organised by her Queen Moremi Ajasoro Initiative in conjunction with

Olori Janet Afolabi Foundation.

Olori Janet, queen of Apomu Kingdom, is a CNN award winning journalist and publisher. She revealed that she agreed to partner with Olori Ronke because she believed that a queen is not meant to just be a decorative piece by her husband's side but to work with him toward the development of the kingdom and its people.

The conference was themed, 'The Impact of Oloris (Royal Queens) In National Development.' The event, which coincided with the Black Women’s History Month, saw participants share ideas on the impact of royal queens in their kingdoms and national development.

Olori Janet, who was a keynote speaker at the conference, highlighted the many challenges facing various communities, how their husbands (traditional rulers) have been at the forefront of solving those problems, but most importantly, giving a clarion call for her fellow queens to rise and support their husbands by identifying major challenges in their domains and strategising on how to solve them. Olori Janet expressed the opinion that if royal queens could initiate meaningful projects in their respective communities, the impact would easily be felt at the national level.
