STOLE MY LOOK!

When you choose to copy an iconic dress like the red Ralph Lauren hot number Lupita Nyongo wore a while back to an awards show, you better make sure you score as many marks as she did on the day she lauched it! In this case, Ini Edo stole Lupita’s look but hers did not quite have the same effect! There are some acts that are way too tough to follow. This is simply a case of “if it’s not Panadol, then it can never be the same as Panadol! Nuff said!

red Ralph Lauren dress was worn at the 2014 Golden Globe Awards. The dress made such a statement that it was recognized worldwide as one of the most iconic dresses of 2014! Lupita complimented her look with a sleek short hairstyle and kept her accessories minimal keeping the focal point on the beauty of the dress.

Ini Edo

showed up in a ‘copy’ of the same dress at the recent AMVCA 2015. It instantly brought to mind Lupita’s iconic look but that’s where the similarity ended. It was not a good

copy and did not do the original any justice. She also, unlike Lupita, went overboard on her accessories making them clash with a style that was already trying, albeit unsuccessfully, to ‘make a statement’. Also the fit, shade and texture of the fabric lacked the finesse of the original dress. Next time you attempt to ‘steal the look’ of a star like Lupita, do it right...from head to toe!
