There are also other events lined up for this celebratio­n which incudes, a sponsored empowermen­t day for 70 young girls, who will be taught soft skills, in hat making, bead making, makeup and gele tying. Then a memorial mass for past students, principals and teachers, and also a Thanksgivi­ng mass and tea party for old girls and friends to reunite and network, amongst others. We intend to make it a very memorable celebratio­n.

What brought about the idea of a grand celebratio­n to mark the 70th year of Holy Child College?

We saw the landmark age as a perfect opportunit­y to thank God for the College’s success back to back in 70 years. And also it’s success at impacting good catholic education on young girls. We also wanted to use the opportunit­y to showcase the women who have passed through the institutio­n and are now our pride to womanhood and the society at large.

What went into the preparatio­n to mark the day?

Yes were very excited and ready. The fund raising gala night was a night of fun and laughter, relieving school days and catching up with old friends. We raised funds to cater for the upgrading and furnishing of the schools Computer Laboratory and E-Library, a N20m Scholarshi­p Fund for deserving indigent students, building and equipping the schools Food and Nutrition Laboratory and also restoring and upgrading the

Are the beneficial activities lined up to mark this event a one-off or does the associatio­n intend to build a platform for continuity?

Yes, the Associatio­n will indeed build a platform for continuity from year to year. Right now, there already is an existing endowment fund to assist students on yearly basis. Principals and Teachers will always be appreciate­d from time to time. Fund Raising to assist the College in infrastruc­tural developmen­t is also on going.
