Sylvia Nduka is the former Miss MBGN 2011, turned actress, businesswoman and now the owner of the popular Sylvia Hair. She is from Anambra state. She is vivacious, feisty and a go-getter who can be also be described as somewhat shy sometimes. A graduate of the University of Lagos, Sylvia studied Accounting after which she contested and won her crown before becoming a business woman.

How did your parents react when you first told them you were going for a beauty contest?

Are you kidding! My dad is a disciplinarian, my mum is his assistant, they didn’t know until two days to the finale and as they say, the rest is history.

Talk about your life after Miss MBGN?

My family are still super in love with me and are really proud of me. For friendship, you loose some you gain some, I still hang out with a bunch of my old friends.

Your life now as a businesswoman?

Oh my gosh if I begin to tell you everything we will probably not leave here today, my hands have been full with a lot, there has been a lot of self development, growth and embarkment on charity work. I started Sylvia Hair and at the moment, I’m trying my hands on film making/acting.

How did you dive into acting?

I was hanging out with some of my friends and I started re-enacting to an incident that happened to me the previous day. My friend who is a producer stopped me in at the middle and said I belong to the make-believe world! I laughed out loud but after much persuasion, that’s how I got my first script. At the moment, I’m totally and absolutely fascinated with acting, these days I’m surrounded by cameras, lights, cast and crew and I’m loving every bit of it.

Tell us about one of the roles you have played?

I played the role of an undergrad who toiled to put herself through school. The movie has a lot of twist and turns, suspense and a lot of drama, you know what? I don’t want to let the cat out of the bag so go watch it.

Tell us more about Sylvia Hair?

Sylvia Hair is for every woman, the young, old, undergraduates, business executive, basically for the fashionable woman, a woman who pays attention to detail in terms of her outward appearance, who is not afraid to standout.

Do you have anything planned that we should look out for?

I have a lot lined up for 2015 and as it unfolds you will definitely get to see it, expect to be blown away.

Nollywood has come a long way, but after 20 years, do you think they are where they are supposed to be?

The pioneers of Nollywood have done so much to bring it to this stage; right now we have better produced movies, captivating story lines, versatile actors etc. I think we are gradually moving from the third largest movie producing to being the third best movie industry globally, the world is definitely paying attention to us.

You are very optimistic about Nollywood?

If Lupita Nyongo, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Sophie Okonedo, David Oyelowo and Uzo Aduba can do
