HOW VALID IS YOUR COVER

- TONYE COLE

The news came in the very early hours of Christmas morning. Prior to that I had felt unsettled in my spirit but couldn’t place why or what it was. At a point I felt physically unwell and decided to turn in for the night yet I knew the pervasive sense of unease was not an illness but something else but what it was, I couldn’t tell. As I lay in bed, I tossed and turned, drifting in and out of sleep, a strange occurrence for one who passes out immediately his head touches a pillow. This day was different and when my daughter called, crying in deep heaves and sobs, that she had crashed the car, it suddenly all made sense.

From the moment she had sent her mum a message seeking permission to go out to meet a friend, that gentle nudge in my spirit man kicked against it. For whatever inexplicable reason, I stayed silent and we granted her permission to go for a short hour or so. Again as she was about to leave the house, another nudge in the spirit to stop her was ignored and from then on, in retrospect, my spiritual balance was off key. Just before drifting off to my uneasy sleep, I sent her a message not to overstay but to return within the stipulated time permitted. She did not.

The Great God is a master of covenants. He understands and respects agreements, always fulfilling His part in any covenant before Him. As long as my daughter was out during the stipulated time agreed by all, she was covenanted to be under divine cover. From the second she overshot her time and failed to get permission to extend the agreement, she was no longer under protective custody but now exposed to danger for which divine grace alone would limit the severity thereof. Her life was spared on Christmas morning, the car was not but the lesson of agreements and divine cover was the deepest of all.

Are you operating outside of an agreement?

May God give us wisdom to walk in Him today.
