WHO Can I blame?

-

“You must attend my wedding” she informed me, knowing I was in scarcely any position to say no. The look on my face must have told a different story for here was one I had known closely for well over a decade, becoming her confidant, counsellor, advisor and mentor yet the news of this wedding had come out of the blue, totally unenvisaged and catching me by surprise. It was but a few months prior, during a very difficult period in her life that I met this young man who stood by her in her vulnerable state. It was very gallant of him but nothing then pointed to walking down the aisle in such a short period of acquaintance.

The call came very early on morning, they had been arguing and he slapped her. The bliss of married life had long eroded for within days of coming together, they’d begun to discover differences in their upbringing, lifestyles, attitude, grammar, circle of friends, spiritual inclinations, home ethics and so much more that tended towards making them pure strangers than couples. The abuse crept in as arguments erupted, bitter words exchanged, none willing to give ground to the other, countless bouts of counseling, prayers and fasting never seeming to make any headway as divorce loomed around the corner.

The Creator of all mankind gave each of us an extremely powerful gift called freewill. So strong is it that unless the holder surrenders it willingly, the only way of taking it is through force. Over the years, man has devised some terrible ways of crushing the will of others, a show of force that leaves one with the power of superiority over the other. In marriages and battles, through torture, by abuse, from confinement, freewill is often tested to its limits. God, in His example to mankind shows that love is the master key that unlocks a willing surrender of freewill. He will never force His will upon you and doesn’t want you doing so to others. Can you show some love today? May God give us wisdom to save our homes today.
