Award for Most Improved Look at a Black-Tie Ceremony for Actors

Undoubtedly, Fathia Balogun. In 2015, at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, she arrived in a cliché, ruched pink, ‘evening gown’ that looked like it could have been picked up from any corner boutique and not representative of the star that she is. She must have good friends in her ear because when she would show up a year later it was a sexier look, delicately embellished and sequined, smoky make-up, hair elegantly pulled back, everything was working! The length of the dress isn’t exactly black-tie but she looks so stunning, we don’t care about the rules.

So You Want To Try an Androgynous Look? Here’s What NOT to do.

Look like Kemi Adetiba. An androgynous look implies you were wearing something meant for the other sex yes but it’s not necessary supposed to feel that way. Ms. Adetiba looks like she trawled her father’s wardrobe and this was the product of her efforts. It is not flattering, there’s too much fabric that could have been saved for half of another suit. Some may arguev that’s the point of it, but no. Had the trousers had a sleeker cut, we wouldn’t be talking about her. More to the point, next to her is someone who did androgyny better. Admittedly, we’re not on board with her choice of bag accessory and shoes but the cut of her suit is ace. Better still and nice cross between a naturally masculine and feminine look is the ultra perfect model Makida Moka in a suit-dress. It is so darling. Both women can take a leaf out of her style book.
