9TH ANNUAL BOLA TINUBU COLLOqUIUM

-

R ecently at the eko Hotel and Suites, victoria Island, lagos, the vice President, Prof. yemi Osinbajo and some of Tinubu’s political friends put together the 9th Annual Bola Tinubu Colloquium themed, `use what we Make, Make what you use` as part of activities marking Asiwaju’s 65th birthday. It is a given that Tinubu has raised the bar for many political leaders across the country, a visionary leader who has mastered the game of politics. This skill is by no means an easy feat and accolades must be given to the man who has dared to tread where others fear to follow leaving a blazing trail in his wake. For a terrain filled with slippery slopes and banana peels, a field full of intrigues and power plays, Tinubu has scaled through enough hurdles to last ten lifetimes and yet here he is, at 65, still standing strong. Having garnered so much admiration and respect, for some, even begrudgingly so, the caliber of people that turned out at this colloquium to mark this special day with him came as no surprise. In this event, the celebrant applauded the vice President on how well he held the reigns whilst President Buhari was on medical vacation abroad. According to him, the two men exemplified teamwork and the true meaning of unity of purpose despite their different backgrounds, which in itself, is a fine example of good leadership. Though Tinubu was pleased about the gathering at the colloquium, he was quick to reiterate that it was not about him but about the progress and betterment of Nigerian citizens’ lives. “Not only must we use what we make and make what we use, we must make what the world values,’’ he said. Suffice it to say, being in its 9th year, the colloquium has gotten better by the year. There were over a dozen Governors, several Ministers and some ex-Governors, not to mention the heavyweight dignitaries at the event. This says a lot about the larger than life personality of the political heavyweight. we, at THISdAy Style, wish him many more happy years. PhotograPhed by Mubo Peters
