- BY FUNKE BABS-KUFEJI

Different markets of the world have their preferred brands and justifiably so. Those brands have displayed great competence in delivering relevant, quality and bespoke products/services. In the smartphone market for instance, Apple’s iPhone is the leading brand in the American market and their product placement can be seen displayed across western movies and TV series unlike other brands in that market. Similarly, while Blu leads the race in South American markets, Samsung and Micromax are the most soughtafter brands in India. Cross into the world’s most populous nation China – Huawei, Oppo and Vivo are constantly slugging it out for a seat at the table. How about in Africa? Data recently released shows that TECNO has successfully displaced other smartphone brands in Africa to become the most sought after brand.

Surprisingly, TECNO which recently celebrated her tenth anniversary at the prestigious Burj Khalifa in Dubai in 2016, only needed one year of market research and product development to effectively understand the peculiarity of African consumers and the need to deliver tailor-made products to them en route local market dominance. Since 2006 when TECNO entered the Africa mobile market scene, the brand has expanded into over 35 countries while dominating major markets such as Nigeria, Tanzania, Kenya, Cameroon, Egypt and Ghana amongst others.

Last October, the brand launched the Phantom 8 in Lagos few days after its international launch at Jumeirah Beach Hotel, in Dubai UAE. The Phantom 8 is currently the brand’s most sought after flagship and was released in only one size. It debuts an impressive 20MP bright front camera and 12MP + 13MP dual cameras at the rear with 10x super zoom, single shot HDR, “4 in 1” skin brightening technology, real-time refocus and ultraquality super pixel lens with great noise control. Also, the device is powered by a 6GB high speed RAM, 64GB ROM, 2.6GHz MediaTekHelio P25 processor and a 3500mAh battery that has 50% extra ultra-fast charge capacity which ensures that the devices runs a lot faster while consuming lesser energy. The Phantom 8 is wrapped in a diamond design uni-body with drip screen, 2.5D glass and a massive 5.7-inch FHD screen mounted on its surface.

TECNO is continually redefining smartphonesand with the Phantom 8, they have successfully released a device that will outshine that of their competitors for a long time. If you consider yourself young, sassy, fashionable and savvy then, you should consider getting the Phantom 8 cause it was built just for you.
