BOWTIES, LAPEL PINS, & MORE
When men wear the right accessories, it shows not just style but confidence too. It’s a great idea to update your look with different accessories. Simple men’s accessories such as bowties, bracelets, cufflinks, etc elevate your style. In my previous write-up I elaborated on why blazers are essential pieces in every gentleman’s wardrobe and has become a bit of a style staple. We are taking this a little bit further by pointing out how pairing the blazer with the right accessories makes a big difference. Bow- Ties
The bow ties commonly seen today was innovated by the French in the Fashion industry seeking a new, unique way to tie a short neck scarf. The invention of the bow tie concept was much embraced in the fashion industry. Bowties can be worn at anytime. The new trend and designs of bowties are as peculiar as designers have taken it a step further from when it first got introduced. The Bow-tie can come self-tied, clip-on and pretied; they also come in different shapes too. Some of the most common shapes are the butterfly, the batwing, the diamond tip, club round, big butterfly, and a few others. Pay attention to the fit and fabric when choosing your bowtie.
Brooch/ Lapel pin
A lapel pin is a small pin worn on the lapel of a jacket and they are predominantly decorative. Wearing the lapel pin will always ensure that your suit becomes the focus of many compliments. Brooches usually come in different styles and design because of how versatile they are; they can be worn on a blazer for a casual look as well as with classic suits. It’s usually attached to the lapel on the suit jacket or blazer.
Cuff-Links
Cufflinks are a great way to introduce a bit of colour and detail into your everyday wardrobe. Cuff links are items of jewelry that are used to secure the cuffs of dress shirts. You’ll want to invest in a French cuff, or double cuff, shirt if you want to wear a pair of cufflinks. There are several unique designs to choose from that best suits your personality. These days the African men’s traditional wear has added a new twist with designing shirts that now have cuffs. Pocket Scarf
The new style of pocket squares is now far beyond the plain styles as the new trending scarves now have more colour and texture. There’s no steadfast rule for choosing a pocket square. It should simply compliment your shirt and tie, not match them. Simply stuffing your pocket with the scarf won’t cut it, so if the breast pocket is too bulgy then you need to refold it to get a smaller square. Wearing the right pocket square adds a great finishing touch to complete your look, so if it looks right and feels right, then you are good to go. Bracelet
If you are wearing a suit and tie on a daily basis, something metallic and luxurious looking, like a silver chain or a beaded bracelet with metallic details is a great choice. If your wardrobe consists more of comfy and casual clothes, you’re probably going to do better in more laid-back bracelets. Watches
Historically, watches were worn as decorative pendants or carried in the pocket. In modern times, they are branded accessories most frequently worn on the wrist. Watches are an indispensable fashion accessory apart from being a necessity, it adds to your personality. There are now several watch designs in the market that you have a wide array to choose from depending on your style and preference.
