WHAT VALUE DOES ETERNITY HOLD?

The sound of running water lent a calming sound that seemed to cool the soul in the searing heat of the morning sun. The beautiful flowers, towering palms, elegant trees, lush green grass, perfectly manicured and encasing the sapphire colored pool, was the perfect setting for anyone willing to appreciate the creativity that man can engineer with elements of nature to settle any restless spirit. It was in this idyllic setting that I found a spot to settle and allow my mind to probe the mysteries that life had to offer.

Rising in the backdrop, against this modern setting, towering majestically into the clear blue skies above the African desert stood the ancient pyramids of Giza. Time weathered they may be and heading like all things man-made towards extinction, that they have survived not mere decades but through 4 millennia tells us something deeper about man’s ability to create beyond the superficial. Ancient Egypt, it seemed, thrived not because they worried much about the present, but primarily because they focused so fully on the afterlife.

The God of Creation, we know, made man a spirit being then encased us in a mortal body for a set time and purpose upon the earth. The deepest longings and eternal search of every soul passing through this earth life is for a better understanding of where they come from and where they are going. Instinctively we all know life on earth is temporal and while we may create things of beauty that satisfy our lusts, only those that strive to answer the questions of eternity will ultimately outlive us and even generations to come. Ancient Egypt discovered this truth and left us with visible monuments attesting to what man is capable of when creating with eternity as the end goal. Is that idea you wish to birth of eternal value?
