Practicing a similar style of Afrobeat as his father, Femi helped introduce the percussive blend of jazz and funk music to the international masses beginning in the mid-'90s, along with his father's same sense of political activism.

Femi has been nominated 3 times for the Grammy and is also a spokesperson for UNICEF’s crusade for the rights of children and an advocate for HIV/AIDS education and prevention.

Today, Fela Kuti’s son and grandson are modernising the dynasty. Femi and his eldest son Made, released Legacy+ in February 2021 a double record comprising Femi’s "Stop the Hate" (his 11th album) and Made’s debut, "For(e)ward", linking three generations of the Kuti dynasty.
