King Charles III was the first royal baby born at Buckingham Palace in the 20th century. His mother, then Princess Elizabeth, was 22 when she gave birth to him.

2He is the third king of England to go by the name “King Charles’. The first monarch to go by King Charles was in 1625 when he succeeded his father, King James, to be the King of England and Scotland. His reign ended when his acts enraged his parliament and started the English Civil war, ultimately leading to his death in 1649.

King Charles III was born in 1948, and before he was crowned King, he was the longest-serving heir to the throne and the oldest to ascend it.

He was the first heir to the throne that was permitted a divorce. He was married to Princess Diana, the mother of his two sons, Prince Williams and Harry. She died in a car accident in Paris, and as a result, King Charles III was now exempted from the Church of England’s remarriage limitation­s. The monarch remarried Camilla Parker Bowles n 2001 as the law was enacted in 2002.

King Charles III is an accomplish­ed painter and among the bestsellin­g painter in Britain. He has been creating watercolou­r landscape pieces since 1997, and the sales of his artwork have brought nearly USD 3 million. 8

He likes to farm and Garden. In an interview with People’s magazine, Charles admitted to talking to the plants at his farm. 9

Charles is the founder of the town Poundbury in Dorchester. He built the town from scratch, blending traditiona­l and modern urban architectu­re because of his keen interest in urban and developmen­t planning. 10

In 1980, King Charles III wrote a children’s book called The Old Man of Lochnagar, based on stories he would tell his younger brothers, Princes Andrew and Edward. The book was later turned into an animated short film narrated by the King. It centres around an old man who went to the caves near Balmoral looking for a quiet place to take a hot bath.
