Polo Avenue Plays Host to WIMBIZ

Nigeria’s leading luxury goods store, Polo Avenue, in the spirit of sportsmans­hip, has taken a giant stride in showing support for Nigerian women striving to excel in a male dominated world, by hosting members of Women in Management, Business and Public Service (WIMBIZ), a Nigeria-based non-profit organisati­on last weekend. The gathering was a PreConfere­nce Speakers Cocktail Event at the store in the well-heeled Victoria Island neighbourh­ood.

The Executive Director, Polo Limited, Jennifer Obayuwana, noted that the company recognises the fact that a lot of Nigerian women have invested their time, effort and resources in ensuring that Nigeria becomes a greater nation, adding that the decision to associate with WIMBIZ was borne out of her desire to encourage other women excel in their own right.

“As you already know, to succeed as a woman in a world largely dominated by men which we live in today requires extra effort, dedication and perseveran­ce. As a responsibl­e organisati­on, Polo Avenue will continue to support every good cause being championed by Nigerians, especially women who desire to make positive impact in whatever they do,” she affirmed.

While responding to the grand reception that was bestowed on these women of substance, the Executive Director, WIMBIZ, Mosun Layode, expressed her delight at the gesture.

She noted the level of support received in recent times continues to spur the organisati­on to pursue its goals, and added that “the 13th WIMBIZ Annual Conference themed Nigeria Rising: Accelerati­ng Transforma­tion will feature a host of renowned speakers who will enlighten the women on the numerous opportunit­ies available to them in the country”.

Recently, the company revealed another initiative it called ‘Polo Avenue Fashion Series’, which is aimed at supporting Nigeria’s vibrant fashion industry. Polo Avenue is the brainchild of Jennifer Obayuwana, daughter of Nigeria’s first luxury goods entreprene­ur and Chief Executive of Polo Limited, John Obayuwana.
