The National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) experiential programme has gotten off to a good start in some parts of the country. Featuring a combination of lively lifestyle, blitz and entertainment, the engagement platforms started with a road show in Lagos and market storm and village square meeting.

Driven on a heavy dose of entertainment the three-man dancing crew that headlined the show entertained and drew attention to NHIS value. Various melodious Naija beats were performed to the admiration of spectators.

A major source of attraction was the NHIS jingle composed by an upcoming artiste F-Major. On the entertainment side, one of the most interesting accomplishments of the NHIS was the discovery of a young talent at Ojuwoye Market in Mushin, Lagos. Little Ahmed Ajani was brought out with three other contestants to showcase their dancing skills.

Ahmed came last in this dancing competition and took his consolation price. People did not expect much from him when he insisted he prefers to rap. The presenter however decided to honour him and gave him the microphone. At his bidding, the Disc Jockey, played him what he (Ahmed) called “beats” which was a mixture of sounds and percussion.

To everybody’s surprise, he composed a good lyrical rap to go with the beat. At the end of his performance, not only did Ahmed make some money for himself from the crew and members of the public, many agreed that the JSS 3 student is on the verge of becoming a music star if he receives the right training and mentorship.

At every location, the NHIS officials preached the gospel of “Affordable Health Care for All”.

At Enugu, the Regional Director, Getrude Ossi, and the State Director, Mrs. Ahunna Ochor, delivered the good message of the NHIS. “The National Health Insurance Scheme is not just for the benefit of civil servants alone, now all and sundry have been given the right to enjoy health care at an affordable rate.

“All you need is dial the code that is the registration code from your network, and answer the prompt questions that will follow. At the payment of the charge through your network providers, you will be registered to the National Mobile Health Insurance Programme (NMHIP)and will receive an NHIS MTS ID Number, this is the number you use for your identification in the NHIS programme.”
