MOLADE OKOYA-THOMAS ‘ FINAL JOURNEY BEGINS IN MARCH

Come Friday, March 6, the remains of the late Chief Molade Alexandria Okoya- Thomas, a very successful business tycoon and sports enthusiast who died on Sunday, February 1, at Reddington Hospital in Victoria Island, Lagos, will be committed to mother earth.

The burial arrangemen­t, as revealed by the family, will begin on Wednesday, March 4, with a Service of Songs, which will be followed by the wake on Thursday, March 5 and climax on Friday, March 6, with a funeral service at the Holy Cross Cathedral, Lagos Island. There will be a grand reception after the interment.

Until his death, he was the Chancellor of the Lagos State University, Ojo and Chairman of CFAO Nigeria Limited.

He was born in Lagos on June 8, 1935 to the late Hussam Okoya- Thomas and late Alhaja Suwebat Okoya- Thomas ( née Gbajabiami­la). He attended Princess School, Lagos for his elementary education and Baptist Academy for his high school education, where he graduated as the best student. He, thereafter, studied Accountanc­y at Balham and Tooting College of Commerce and also had further training in Accounting at Columbia University, New York, US.

Upon returning to Nigeria, he got employment as an accountant with CFAO and rose through the ranks to become its chairman.

He was also a recipient of the Chevalier de la Legion d’Honneur, the highest national honour given by the French to a foreigner.

He is survived by his wife, Chief ( Mrs.) Olivia Abosede Okoya- Thomas, four children- Hon. Jumoke Okoya- Thomas, Tosin Alobo- Bakare, Yinka Taiwo and Deji Okoya- Thomas.
