- Vincent Obia

As the Nigerian Topleaders International Magazine marks its 10th year in the publishing and events packaging business this year, its publisher and Editor-in-Chief, Aminu Oyarekhua, has expressed happiness at the achievements of the magazine and optimism about its future.

He said the magazine had made remarkable impact in information dissemination and the discovery and celebration of unsung and credible achievers within and outside Nigeria.

Oyarekhua said activities planned to mark the anniversary included a conference /awards ceremony to be held in Ghana, book launch in Abuja, dinner night, thanksgiving service, and donation of items to motherless babies’ homes.

Conference lectures on the theme, “Strategic Approach in Taming Terrorism across the World,” will be delivered by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Legon, Prof. Ernest Aryeetey, and Etsu Kwali, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Alhaji Audu Shaban Nizazo III, Oyarekhua said. He disclosed that the governor of Bayelsa State, Hon. Seriake Dickson, would be among the special guests at the event.

On how to successfully tackle the Boko Harm insurgency in Nigeria, Oyarekhua advised that the military should be well-equipped, adequately motivated, and well remunerated. He expressed confidence in the Nigeria military, saying they are among the best in the world. He also called for unity of purpose among Nigerians in the anti-terrorism fight as well as cooperation from foreign countries and organisations.

Ahead of the general elections, Oyarekhua advised politicians to encourage peace by refraining from provocative and inciting statements that could stoke crisis. He said the major contenders in the presidential race, President Goodluck Jonathan and General Mohammed Buhari, should focus on selling to Nigerians their plans for the country if elected instead of name-calling.
