Olugbode The All Progressives Congress (APC) has condemned the dastardly bombings that left many dead and injured in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital at the weekend, warning that it would bring to justice members of the Boko Haram terror group behind the continued bombing and killing of innocent Nigerians.

In the same vein, the party’s presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), has expressed outrage and grief at the latest terrorist’s suicide bomb attacks, which left at least 100 innocent people dead.

In a statement issued yesterday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party condoled with the families of those killed as well as the government and people of Borno State.

It prayed that God will grant repose to the souls of the innocent citizens who were sent to their early graves, while wishing those who were injured a speedy recovery.

‘’As we have said many times, nothing in the world justifies the killing of innocent men, women and children, and the cowards who have continued to kill and maim must realise that they will not escape justice, no matter how long it takes,’’ APC said.

The party called for vigilance among the people of the state and indeed the entire North-east, against the background of the stepped-up fight against the terrorists.

Buhari, in a condolence message issued in Abuja yesterday through his media campaign committee, said the frequency with which terrorists destroy lives and property embarrassed him beyond measure, and that tackling such indiscriminate violence would be a priority for him if elected into office.

According to him, terrorist violence had achieved nothing good for anybody and that his administration would confront this insecurity problem with determination and remarkable zeal.

The statement extended Buhari’s condolences to the families of the victims of the latest terrorist attacks on Maiduguri.

The APC presidential candidate explained that nothing can justify this endless and brutal terrorist violence targeted at innocent people, and has also destroyed the economic and social life of the people in areas where terrorists are notoriously active.

Buhari, however, called for increased vigilance among the people. He said the ease with which suicide bombers blend with law-abiding citizens and reach their targets undetected is disturbing.

He explained that He also condoled the families of the recent violence in Rivers State in which some unidentified gunmen attacked and killed an APC supporter in the state.

He said violence benefits nobody and, instead, it sets back the progress of the country.

Meanwhile, Buhari’s wife, Aisha, yesterday donated assorted drugs and relief materials to more than 100 victims of Saturday’s bomb attacks on Maiduguri.

Delivering the items on her behalf, the wife of the Borno State governor, Hajiya Nana Kashim Shettima, said the wife of APC presidential candidate condoled with the people of the state over the multiple bomb attacks across the Maiduguri metropolis.

She urged women particularly to continue to pray for lasting peace not only in the state, but in the country at large.

She commended the efforts of the security agencies and the youth vigilante group in their fight against insurgency in the state.

Receiving the donation, the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the state Hospitals and Management Board, Dr. Salisu Kwaya Bura, said the gesture would go a long way in assisting in the the treatment of the patients.

He described the gesture as timely, saying the items received include 150 cartons of assorted drugs, 1,000 multi-vitamins, polythene mats and blankets.
