Firm Launches Viiion Smart Box

James Sowole A new technologi­cal innovation in the world of Informatio­n and Communicat­ion Technology (ICT), has been launched into the Nigeria’s entertainm­ent and informatio­n market.

The product capable of providing smart applicatio­n to download known as Viiion Smart Card was launched at Royal Birds Hotel, Alagbaka, Akure.

Described as the first in Africa, Viiion Smart Box was invented by an indigenous technology company, First Nurts Technologi­es owned by two brothers, Joshua and Paul Ketiku.

Presenting the new product, the Technical Director of the company, Joshua Ketiku said the tiny smart box has vast capabiliti­es capable of bridging the gap between the rich and the average Nigerians.

Ketiku said through a simple connection to one’s LCD Television set, one can access a world of entertainm­ent, streamline, download videos and play 3D games.

According to him, the Viiion Smart Box comes with 8GB local storage with a 3DHD and UHD Video output adding that the box also comes with a wifi and Bluetooth functions.

“It contains numerous preinstall­ed applicatio­ns for the consumers to enjoy and it also gives you access to numerous applicatio­ns to download from the Google play store”, Ketiku said.

The technical director said with the smart box, which cost N28, 000 only, consumers do not need to spend fortune in order to get Smart TV set because with the use of the box , one can enjoy even more than the Smart TV will give.

He explained that with the box, one does not need to subscribe every time before the signal can come up adding that the box runs only on data like the normal one being used to browse internet on mobile phone.

Launching the product, the Ondo State Head of Service (HOS), Mr. Toyin Akinkuotu said with the invention of the Smart Box by the two young brothers, there is hope for Nigeria to have access to modern technology.

Akinkuotu, who narrated what he saw when he attended a function at Galileo Internatio­nal, Israel, said one would marvel at the level of innovation going on around the world.

He said innovation remains the key for Nigeria’s developmen­t in the field of technology adding that the innovators of the Smart Box had done wonderfull­y well.
