N24m Up for Grabs at 2015 Warri CAA Grand Prix
The Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) has announced that not less than $118, 950 (about N24million) would be up for grabs at the 2015 CAA Grand Prix scheduled for May 18 in Warri.
The AFN said in a statement in Lagos yesterday that of the said amount, $42,800 (about N8.5million) would be won in the Premium events.
It said while the first position would win $4,000 (N788,000) the second-placed would have $2,500 (N492,500) and $1,500 (295,500) for third position.
The fourth placed would receive a consolation prize money of $1,000 (N197,000, while the fifth place takes, $600, the sixth ($500), the seventh ($400) and eighth ($200).
The statement then said that the top eight winners in the Classics would share $25, 600 with the top finisher taking home, $2,000, the second $1,500 and third, a thousand dollars.
The statement also said that winners in the Promotional event would share $14,600 – top position $ 1,000, the second $800, the third $600.
The fourth to eighth place winners would receive varying amounts.
It added that in the International Relays, $24,000 would be shared accordingly, with the first place winner taking home $ 2, 500, the second $2,000 and the third, $ 1,500.
Winners in the Secondary School Relays would share $ 3,200, with the top place winner taking home $ 400, second place, $ 200 and the third position taking a hundred dollars.
The National Events for the meet include: Male; 200m, 110mH, Shot Put, Javelin Throw and Female; 200m, Triple Jump, High Jump.
The winner in the category would receive $ 400, the second $ 300 and third place, $ 200.
