Zinox Boss to Chair BoICT Lecture/Awards
Chairman of Zinox Group, Mr. Leo Stan Ekeh, has accepted to chair this year’s Beacon of ICT (BoICT) Distinguished Lecture/Awards Series.
Ekeh, a serial entrepreneur will chair the event, while the Managing Director/CEO, VDT Communications, Mr. Biodun Omoniyi, will deliver the keynote at the event with the theme: “What Next for Nigerian Telecommunications?
The lecture and award ceremony is slated for Saturday, April 25, 2015 in Lagos.
CEO, Communication Week Media, organisers of the event, Mr. Ken Nwogbo, said “The choice of Ekeh is apt. He has a record of incisive entrepreneurship and he believes that one of his legacies is to alter positively the destiny of many poor Nigerians through his knowledge democracy platforms”
“We are excited to have him at this year’s lecture and awards which is set to be one of the most anticipated annual events on the ICT industry’s calendar,” Nwogbo added.
Now in its sixth year, the lecture is also the largest gathering of ICT practitioners, regulators, financial sector under one roof.
At the inaugural edition of the lecture, the former Executive Vice Chairman, Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC), Dr. Ernest Ndukwe, delivered the lecture,where he foretold a broadband revolution.
Already, top business leaders and government officials have confirmed attendance.
This year also, Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State has been listed to be honoured as the Most Outstanding Governor in usage of ICT ‘4’ Development, especially for using Drone Technology for Mapping Purposes; Crime Fighting; and use of ICT in education.
Nwogbo said the governor was adjudged the best after polling 50,327 votes out of the 109,000 votes cast in Most Outstanding Governor in usage of ICT ‘4’ Development, category.
“We are very happy that Nigerians have recognised Governor Obiano’s hard work, sincerity and dedication towards the development of Anambra state,” Nwogbo said.
Governor Obiano is being honoured for making Anambra State the first choice investment destination and a hub for industrialisation and commercial activities.
