-

Former Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi will be the chairman of the 2015 National Stakeholders Marketing Summit scheduled to hold in Lagos next month.

The summit is being organised by Marketing Edge Magazine, a wholly marketing communication publication in Nigeria.

A statement signed by Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the publication, Mr. Wole David noted that the former governor who commended the magazine for the initiative however said notwithstanding his tight schedule he will still honour the magazine’s invitation.

The editorial board of Marketing Edge had in its meeting nominated Fayemi to chair the morning session of the industry summit while former chairman of Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON), Chief Olu Falomo will preside over the Brands Excellence Award in the evening.

In the morning session, brand and marketing experts, including former APCON Registrar, Dr. Josef Molokwu and Managing Director, Noah’s Ark, Mr. Lanre Adisa will be exploring ‘Roadmap to Marketing in the Age of Global Oil Glut’ and ‘Nigerian Advertising in a Generational Shift’.

The evening event will be rewarding as accomplished advertising practitioners and best performing agencies, brands and other outstanding players in the Nigerian Integrated Marketing Communications sector will be rewarded in different awards categories.

The decision was based on the reputation of both personalities as highly respected and intellectual power house across relevant sectors home and abroad; and the fact that the event will expand the frontiers of knowledge, explore innovative ideas and ways of managing brand business and the business of brand management while thinking global and acting local.

Amongst those to be rewarded are Sir Steve Omojafor, Chairman Stb-McCaNN, Lagos, Mr. Segun Ogunsanya, CEO Airtel, Mr. Jimi Awosika, CEO Insight Communications etc.

Brand and marketing professionals will recall Dr Fayemi’s thought leadership delivery in 2013 that resonated across board and have become prophetic on “Beyond Branding: Building Lasting Values for Nigeria’s Growth”, where as guest speaker summed up the national branding efforts so far as ‘a value deficit and a failure of successive administrations to articulate a strategic national vision and calibrating institutional realities to match such vision’.

“If we are to change the character, tone and content of leadership and thereby enhance the appeal of Brand Nigeria, we will need to join the corps of leaders and elites exemplifying the wave of the future.

We will need to see ourselves as exemplars of a certain way of doing things,” he said.
