Africa Pharma Forum Launches Website
For its strategic positioning in the health sector, the Africa Pharmaceutical Forum (APF) has unveiled its website to the public as a source of credible information in the pharmaceutical industry.
The website supported by Pfizer according to APF President, Mr. Anthony Akhimien, will promote better understanding of drug use and pharmaceutical practice in Africa.
“We are in the developing side of the world and we need to create standard of pharmacists’ practice in the world, the way it has been done both in England and Zimbabwe, so it should be done here.
One of the ways is to standardize our practice in our continent.
And then ensure that pharmaceutical care is of importance - it is not just giving the drugs,” Akhimien noted.
He explained that the presence of the website will improve quality of drugs.
He said: “We are going to connect to all the regulatory bodies and all the manufacturers; hence we brought all the industries today to. We are going to partner these bodies and ensure that what we have done in this country that succeeded can also be replicated in Zimbabwe and South Africa and the rest.
“Our aim also includes tapping from what other countries have done, international, prototype of everything we should do, the quality of drugs and packaging; we should replicate it in Africa.
“This way, the website will bring together all the other ethnic group and Francophones speaking nations, thereby, breaking the language barrier that had hampered our progress.”
