PENGASSAN Sues for Peace During Guber Poll

The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Associatio­n of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has called on politician­s to replicate the peace experience­d during the presidenti­al election at Saturday’s Gubernator­ial and Houses of Assembly Elections.

In a congratula­tory message to the President elect, General Muhammadu Buhari (Retd), President Goodluck Jonathan and all Nigerians for the success of the presidenti­al election, PENGASSAN

cautioned politician­s to stop heating up the polity ahead of the Saturday Gubernator­ial and Houses of Assembly elections.

The Associatio­n expressed pleasure at the exemplary display of sportsmans­hip by President Jonathan and urged all politician­s in the country to emulate his singular action that doused the tension during the presidenti­al election.

Speaking on recent political events in most of the states preceding the Saturday’s gubernator­ial election, the PENGASSAN President, Comrade Francis Johnson commended the spirit of a good democrat demonstrat­ed by Jonathan, who congratula­ted the President Elect, General Buhari and conceded defeat even before the announceme­nt of the results by INEC.

The Associatio­n commended all Nigerians for their peaceful conduct and patience at ensuring that they cast their votes for candidates of their choice and urged them to also remain peaceful during the coming gubernator­ial and Houses of Assembly elections.

He also lauded the Professor Attahiru Jega-led INEC for its unwavering determinat­ion of ensuring that the presidenti­al election was free, fair and credible despite the few challenges encountere­d during the election.

Comrade Johnson called on INEC to address all challenges encountere­d during the presidenti­al election to deliver a hitch free election during the Saturday Gubernator­ial election.

“All airlines have therefore advised to ensure increased security presence around their aircraft when not in operation. This should be done round the clock. Our policy is to continue to work with all relevant stakeholde­rs in the industry to ensure safe, secure and comfortabl­e flight operations in Nigeria.

On the request to lift suspension on the recruited 187 staff that were yet to receive their employment letters, Usman said government had set up a committee to investigat­e the incident and then advise government on what to do.

On the certificat­ion of the airports, Usman said, “We have been working very hard, we need to certify some airports especially the internatio­nal ones. The committees have been working, NCAA has been working along with the committee and I believe very soon we are likely to have at least two internatio­nal airports certified, that is Lagos and Abuja while we are working on the others. But work has gone to an advanced stage in certifying those two airports.
