Group Urges Igbos to Vote Massively For Change

-

Following Inflammatory statements credited to the Oba of Lagos, HRM, Rilwan Akiolu, alleging that he threatened the Igbos in Lagos to vote the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Akinwumi Ambode, or perish in the Lagos Lagoon when Eze Ndigbos in Lagos paid him a courtesy, members of the Eko Titun PDP support group has called on Igbos in the state to ignore the threat and vote massively for the PDP candidate, Jimi Agbaje, in the gubernatorial elections which hold on Saturday

“We are shell-shocked with the irresponsible and inflammatory comment of Kabiyesi and we say with all sense of responsibility there is the need to draw a line as he has clearly crossed the line of royal decency and violated the electoral laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. As a nation we cannot afford another tribal war in the 21st century. We want peace and harmony in this country and no one or no group of people will be allowed to turn us or our supporters into slaves. No one will be allowed to throw our supporters ‘into the Lagoon’ and make them ‘perish’ and neither will there be any negative consequences if they vote against the APC in Lagos or anywhere else.

According to the group, “This acrimonious and potentially divisive statement directed against the Igbos and by extension other tribes resident in Lagos threatens to destabilize our democracy and the fragile peace the GEJ administration and PDP bestowed on this nation when he graciously conceded defeat in the presidential election in the interest of the nation categorically stating that no one’s political ambition is worth the blood of any Nigerian.” Eko Titun’ PDP support group sees a deliberate attempt by the Oba, in collaboration with the APC, to coerce non-indigenes to act against their will.
