Cleric Congratulates Nigerians on Peaceful Elections
Chiemelie Ezeobi The Supreme Head, Cherubim and Seraphim (C and S) Unification Church of Nigeria, His Most Eminence, Prophet Solomon Alao has congratulated Nigerians on the success of the just concluded presidential and National Assembly elections noting that his church would continue to pray for Nigeria for God’s love, protection and guidance in the gubernatorial election billed to hold tomorrow, Saturday.
He said Nigerians, irrespective of their political divides, had a peaceful conduct of the election, in spite of some challenges encountered during the exercise.
He also commended the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Attahiru Jega, for his doggedness in seeing through one of Nigerian’s freest and fairest elections in the nation’s history.
Alao commended the electoral umpire for its use of the Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and the Smart Card Readers, which he said, for the most part, made the voice of the voters count.
He said, "We also wish to congratulate President-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) for his victory at the polls. It was really a victory well deserved, as his election was the wish of majority of the voters who defied the heavy downpour in many part of the country to cast their ballots.
"Special mention must be made of the exemplary sportsmanship displayed by the out-going president, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan (GCFR) when he put a call through to his main challenger when it was obvious that he had lost the contest.
"It is not in doubt that President Jonathan had, by that singular action, written his name in gold, the Church also commended President Jonathan for sticking to his promise to abide by the wishes of Nigerians whichever way the contest went.
"We urge the President-elect and his party to be magnanimous in victory and remain focused on the daunting challenges ahead. He surely cannot afford to disappoint the millions of Nigerians for their confidence in him. Gen. Buhari should know that he needed to move fast to heal the wounds of the immediate past and take the country to the next level. He remains the president of all Nigerians irrespective of their creek, tribe, ethnic background and religion.
