Catholic Youths Re-enact the Crucifixio­n

The Catholic Youths organisati­on of Nigeria CYON of Regina Pacis Catholic Church Sangotedo in Lekki area of Lagos state as well as the Priests and Parishione­rs took to street to re-enact the death and crucifixio­n of Jesus Christ last Friday.

The drama and procession which took place at the Lekki –Epe expressway saw an actor Justine Pedro playing role of Jesus carrying his cross toward market place and along Sangotedo to Church compound where the crucifixio­n was represente­d At the drama, the crowed called for Jesus Crucifixio­n, while the soldiers mocked him, as Christian women Organisati­on CWO became women of Jerusalem who cried for Jesus. The Choir of St. Cecilia performed the traditiona­l songs of good Friday. Attention and emotions of many motorists and passers bye were drawn, as the drama looks real.

Speaking on the success of the drama, the Youth drama director of CYON Regina Pacis Catholic Church Mr. Edomwonyi Oscar said the aim was to remake the lord’s Passion so as to bring to life the extent Jesus went to buy us salvation. ‘It took us more than two months because of non availabili­ty of cast, as we have to keep switching personnel even on the last day

According to Mr. Oscar, each character in the drama represents the people as we all have hands in the Crucifixio­n of Jesus Christ. He noted that such drama from time immemorial has helped discovered many talents but the major challenge is that the Entertainm­ent Industry is not friendly to new or upcoming talents. He further called for more talents hunts to enable upcoming once showcase their God given talents
