Delta Guber: Ndokwa Can’t Afford to Be in Opposition Says Group
A socio-political group, Ndokwa Peoples Initiatives (NPI), has declared that the people of Ndokwa ethnic group in Delta State cannot afford to be use as opposition in the Saturday’s polls, as it declared support for Senator Ifeanyi Okowa’s gubernatorial ambition.
This observation was made in Lagos State yesterday by the President-General of NPI, Mr. Agha Emmanuel, who noted that good governance was not happenstance, “it is an art and we need a leader like Okowa, who has the competence and experience to translate the people’s aspirations into concrete ideals.
Agha also noted that the Ika-born Senator would in four years “look into our plights and give us a lift because he knows that we have the human capital to help him realise his dreams for greater Delta.
The group declared that Okowa, who it said is a PanDeltan, would establish vocational training centres across the state; upgrade the technical school in Utagba-Obe to a world class institution and also reposition Ndokwa land.
He added that: “The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate would bring amenities to our communities. He would also appoint our sons and daughters into his cabinet and various other positions.
“He has consistently pledged his allegiance to the people of the state which is a good sign of a true democrat.
“Ekwueme, as he is popularly called, has continued to rekindle hope for better days among the people. At this stage, we need a unifier, one with the capacity to frontally address the issues in governance in the state.”
Agha further stated that: “Okowa has wealth of experience that would help to develop the state. As a Senator, Okowa did very well; he has not disappointed his people. He has done credible things and we should give him a chance to use his vast experience in politics to develop the state further. Okowa is what we require for now following his achievement as Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Commissioner, Senator and Council chairman.”
The NPI leader maintained that Okowa has all the credentials, experience, exposure and was more capable of governing the state.
“Okowa would emerge victorious on Saturday because he is more experience to govern our state and consolidate on the achievements of the outgoing administration,” he said.
According to Agha, with hi experience, the Okowa’s administration would provide “employment for our teeming youths, enhance the quality of education, provide world-class health care delivery system, improve on our roads and provide potable water for all.”
Of all the candidates jostling for the governorship position, he restated, Okowa is the most qualified and “I dare tell you that the other two major contestants pose no threats to him. So, Okowa has no rival. We have the perpetual aspirants challenging our candidate. They have failed before and they will fail again.”
