Ndifreke Upbeat on New Role for Abia Warriors

-

Abia Warriors dead-ball specialist, Ndifreke Effiong has described the new role given to him by Coach Ladan Bosso as an exciting but challenging task.

The defender turned forward told npfl.ng that he is looking forward to utilizing his shooting prowess to net double figures for the Umuahia side in the current season.

He said this new responsibility in the team will provide him the opportunity to become a more resourceful player and to understand the game better.

“I believe my new role will help develop my game. I have been playing defensive, since the beginning of my career. But the coach has told me I will be playing in an offensive position this season, supporting the strikers. It is a different feeling entirely. I look forward to helping the team score goals and challenge for the league title this season” Ndifreke promised.

Asked if he will continue with his duties as free kick specialist for the team, the former Abia Comets player who was promoted to Abia Warriors only last season, said he will try to take on more responsibilities beyond hitting free kicks and as may be directed by the technical crew.

“I will do whatsoever I am asked to do by the coach. I intend to go beyond free kicks. I will use the skills from the kicks to develop myself into a unique player, I have always wanted to be a versatile player in the mold of Michael Essien”. Ndifreke said.

He was drafted into the team’s attacking structure following the departure of Onyeakachi Peter to arch rivals, Enyimba FC of Aba.

The 21 year old scored in the team’s 2-1 win over Dolphins in Umuahia in a rescheduled Match Day 2 fixture and provided the assist for Chisom Chikatara for their second on the day.
