THISDAY checks reveal that some top notch party leaders reached the agreement after rounds of consultation that include other outstanding contributions of Kwankwaso to the victory of the party in all rounds of elections in the country.

He was second to GMB with 974 votes beating a seasoned politician and former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, who scored 954 votes, to the third position.

According to a source, Kwankwaso further endeared himself to the party bigwigs by the superlative figures he garnered for the President-elect in the April 28 election. Buhari got 1,903,999 votes. This was the highest in all states of the country.

“The party leaders collectively rallied round Kwankwaso, who is an elected Senator representing Kano Central, agreeing, without dissension that he should be the Senate Leader,” the source said.
