prevent corruption and reduce it to its barest minimum, the use of electronic wallet across board is the way to go. Not only is it very effective, it is also better option than the use of anti-corruption agencies that selectively and symbolically jail political opponents without making a dent in corruption. Economically, Buhari’s government needs a pro-active economic agenda with an overarching economic policy that breaks new ground or explores new possibilities, and restructures Nigeria to ensure fair and equitable distribution of wealth to all the federal zones in Nigeria. There should also be a comprehensive policy on education

and its financing in a way that invests in the intellectual capital of Nigerian youth who are the future of Nigeria and who are expected to compete globally. Affordable and universal healthcare is a necessity for Nigerians that has to be addressed. If all we get from the Buhari government on these issues is nothing beyond throwing money at them, then what we have is not change but more of the same.

To the credit of President Goodluck Jonathan, on realizing that the elections were not going to go his way, he promptly conceded defeat and publically congratulated General Buhari. He is also noted to have said while conceding that: “Nobody’s ambition is worth the blood of any Nigerian.” This is not only historic, it is as heroic as it is statesmanlike.

General Buhari has to match this. He has to take a different tack than some trolls are demanding. Probe Jonathan. Crucify him. This is a sure recipe for the implosion of Niger Delta and conflict. Instead, General Buhari should be conciliatory, reconciliatory and gracious by moving on with a forward-looking government that captures the collective hope of all Nigerians. He has to be a different kind of leader for all.
