NURAIN MUMUNI EULOGISES BUHARI

- JOY IN THE HEART OF EXBEAUTY QUEEN OBA SAHEED ELEGUSHI’S LOWKEY BIRTHDAY PARTY PETER OKOYE’S REALITY SHOW

( APC), offered to contest the Atiba/ Afijio/ Oyo East/ Oyo West Federal constituency, it was quite an easy ride for him, as he emerged victorious at the polls on March 28. He defeated the incumbent, Hon. Kamil with a wide margin, an indication that he is well loved by the young and the old.

Indeed, one good turn deserves another.

Former CPC governorship candidate in Lagos State, Ambassador Nurain Mumuni, has aligned himself with the prevailing view that the emergence of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari at this critical juncture in the socio- political life of Nigeria is purely divine. To him, as gathered by Society Happenings, Buhari is the” best option for Nigeria”. Mumuni is also glad that Nigerians did not squander the best opportunity provided them by the patriotic decision of Buhari to once again rescue the country from the claws of its tormentors, just as he did as military Head of State in the ’ 80s.

For Mumuni, Buhari, whose passion for the development of Nigeria was described as legendary even by his political opponents, was the most suitable among the contestants for the post of President because of his enviable pedigree as an incorruptible leader. His emergence as President- elect was therefore good news for Nigeria.

There is joy in the heart of Matilda Kerry, a former Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria, MBGN, as she was delivered of a baby boy a few days ago in the US.

The Edo State- born ex- beauty queen, who got married two years ago, had been in the US with her husband a few days before the arrival of the baby.

As a medical student then, her emergence as the MBGN in 2000 took many by surprise. It was even more surprising when she went on to represent Nigeria in both the Miss Universe and Miss World beauty pageants. But after she handed over the MBGN crown to Agbani Darego in 2001, she went back to school and graduated in Medicine.

Today, the Public Health physician has been busy with her medical practice with special interest in women’s health and runs a cervical cancer control campaign under the umbrella of the George Kerry Life Foundation. This she took after her late father who was also a renowned medical practitioner.

Her duties include working with the National Cervical Cancer Prevention Centre and establishing the Nigeria Cervical Health Campaign.

As a royal father, Oba Saheed Elegushi has friends all over the globe. Expectedly, his friends are always around whenever he has any need to throw a party. Little wonder, expectations were high recently when the handsome king marked his birthday on April 10. Many had looked forward to seeing him put up another superlative party in celebration of his birthday. But Society Happenings gathered that he shocked all, as he only threw a low- key party to mark the occasion.

It was gathered that the socialite decided not to make too much noise about this because of the governorship election that was held a day after. But Society Happenings was informed that prayers were held for him by some top religious clerics, while some of his friends came to his palace to gorge themselves on some foods and drinks. We also learnt that a date would soon be fixed for the big celebration.

Meanwhile, a source close to the monarch revealed that he recently took delivery of a 2015 model of Lexus SUV, which was to have cost about N35 million. The exotic car was shipped in from the US.

Those close to the Oba of Ikateland say he is an incurable lover of wonderson- wheels, as he has several eyepopping cars in his

garage.

Peter Okoye, one half of the P- Square music duo, has kicked- off with ‘ Dance Nigeria with Peter,’ a TV reality show. When launched, it will be the first dance reality TV show that abrogates the normal humdrum of dance competition on TV.

Society Happenings gathered that the show, which is designed to bring about a whole new dimension in dance in an exciting display of talents, will be suspense- filled.

The show features Peter Okoye, making his debut as a judge/ mentor alongside dance Queen Kaffy and Nigerian Hip hop dance choreographer, Flex.

According to Peter Okoye, “This show is going to revolutionise the way Nigerians see dance. I am so happy to have on this project the best that Nigeria has to offer when it comes to dance. We believe that dance has the power to put this nation on the map. Charity begins at home, so let’s dance Nigeria.”

The competition is open to individuals from different dance backgrounds, which include solo, group or duet. Auditions will hold in June across four major cities in Nigeria: Jos, Abuja, Port Harcourt and Lagos. It will also involve street ‘ battles’, where the final 30 contestants who will move to the competition phase will be discovered.
