Catholic Priest Kidnapped in Kogi

Atabor Julius Smarting from their previous successes in kidnapping foreigners without challenges from the security agencies, the men specialisi­ng in the art of kidnapping have abducted a reverend father, Innocent Umor of Ikanekpo parish in Ankpa, Kogi State.

The abduction, according to Rev Father Hycinct, while disclosing this to journalist­s yesterday in Lokoja, the state capital, stated that the kidnappers stormed the parish at about 2a.m. yesterday with guns and other dangerous weapons and made away with the priest.

The Rev Father said after several hours of shooting by the kidnappers who were about five in numbers, they called the Bishop of the Diocese, Bishop Anthony Adaji with the phone of Rev. Umor which they seized demanding aN4 million ransom.

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Ishola Collins Adebayo, confirmed the incident but said the informatio­n was still sketchy.
