First Bank Beat Benue Princess 73-26 to Remain Undefeated in Phase One

First Bank female basketball club on Sunday defeated Benue Princess 73-26 on the final day of the Phase One of the 11th Zenith Bank National Female Basketball League in Abuja.

NAN reports that the competitio­n being organised by the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) was held at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Abuja National Stadium.

The win was the eighth win for the Lagos-based First Bank side, who are the competitio­n’s defending champions, and are top of the bill in their nine-team group.

They earlier defeated Plateau Rocks 92-36, crushed Immigratio­n 80-19 Taraba Hurricanes 94-24, Oluyole Babes 87-33, AHIP Queens 46-33 and First Deep Water 65-32.

In Sunday’s match, First Bank took control of the game by leading 16-4 in the first quarter, and were 41-12 by the game’s break, and 55 -19 after the third quarter.

In another match on the day, GT 2000 lost 31-33 to FCT Angels, Dolphins defeated Zamfara Babes 69-15, while Nasarawa Amazons beat Coal City Queens 20-0.

Also, AHIP Queens beat Oluyole Babes 51-48, Customs beat Delta Force 51-39, and Sunshine Angels defeated First Deep Water 42-38.

18 teams, divided into Group A and Group B, took part in the first phase of the competitio­n.
