NNPC-Shell Cup Hits Q’final Stage

The 2015 NNPC-Shell Cup has entered quarterfin­al stage nationwide with the qualifiers expected to battle for semifinal places on May 8.

Four centres have been picked by the organisers to host the last eight games.The centres are Sagamu, Ogun State, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Minna, Niger State and Kaduna, Kaduna State.

The quarterfin­alists emerged from the zonal preliminar­ies played nationwide between April 27 and May 2 across various centres in nine zones.

From the Sagamu centre, three teams are to vie for a semifinal slots. They are Calvary Internatio­nal School, Port Harcourt, Rochas Foundation College, Owerri and National Grammar School, Nike, Enugu.

There will be a straight fight between Adeola Odutola College, Ijebu Ode and Rezheight High School, Benin while Army Day Secondary School, Sokoto and Government Technical College, Yola will tango for honours in Kaduna centre.

Another semifinali­st is also expected to emerge from the Minna centre where three teams are to vie for one slot. They are Government Day Secondary School, Kofar Yandaka, Sokoto, Government Secondary School, Gwale, Kano, Government Secondary School, Keffi, Nasarawa.

The semifinal matches are scheduled to take place at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos between May 22 and 24.

The talent hunt football competitio­n has been a platform for discovery of talents who have played for the Nigerian national teams at various levels.

“This year’s edition has been significan­t in many ways and we expect this to continue till we get to the final stages in Lagos,” said SPDC’s Sustainabl­e Developmen­t and Community Relations Manager, Mr. Igo Weli.”
