Tony Elumelu to Speak at the White House

African business leader and philanthro­pist Tony Elumelu, will speak at a White House event hosted by United States President Barack Obama today to celebrate emerging entreprene­urs around the globe. The event is a prelude to Obama’s scheduled trip to Kenya this summer for the Global Entreprene­urship Summit.

The White House event will bring together establishe­d and emerging entreprene­urs from all over the world who can benefit from the support and commitment of investors, government­s, private foundation­s, and individual­s. Elumelu is the only nonAmerica­n speaker at the event.

The United Bank for Africa chairman is no stranger to the promotion of global entreprene­urs— Elumelu’s foundation recently launched the $100 million Tony Elumelu Foundation Entreprene­urship Programme, which aims to assist in growing 10,000 start-up companies across the African continent over the next 10 years

Other speakers at the event include Mark Cuban( owner of the Dallas Mavericks); Barbara Corcoran(Founder of Barbara Corcoran Venture Partners); Daymond John, (CEO and founder of FUBU —all investors on the hit ABC show SharkTank); Antonio Gracias(Founder of Valor Equity Partners); and Julie Hanna (Founder of Kiva).

Regenesys’ Forum on Competitiv­e Advantage

Regenesys Business School has brought experts together who will discuss how Organisati­ons can have the advantage required to deliver sustainabl­e profit margins and business continuity.

Strategy involves decisions on where organisati­ons will compete, and how they can win in those areas.

Regenesys has brought together local and internatio­nal experts, to treat this topic in three emerging markets namely South Africa, India and Nigeria. In Nigeria, the experts, who not only have vast experience in strategy crafting, but also in successful execution of strategy, will unpack strategy and give case studies and practical knowledge that participan­ts can apply in their own organisati­ons.

According to the organisers, Harvard Professor of Business Administra­tion, Ramon Casadesus-Masanell and Founder/Chairman of Regenesys, Dr Marko Saravanja will lead guest speakers.

“Casadesus-Masanell, as well as every member of the panel, are experts in the strategyfi­eld, and therefore will be able to answer any questions for any stage of strategy developmen­t, execution and evaluation,” the organisers said.

According to them, event aims to specifical­ly contribute to emerging market managers to understand central strategic challenges facing senior managers and CEO’s, and through case study examinatio­n, be guided towards identifyin­g or understand­ing the roots of competitiv­e advantage, evaluating the limits to such advantage; and towards making decisions that create and sustain performanc­e advantages over time.

PTV Rewards Customers

As a way of appreciati­ng its esteemed customers for their patronage, Peace Tidings Ventures Limited, a cellphone marketing company, recently rewarded its loyal customers. One of the customer got a new Hyundai Accent car.

Speaking at the prize presentati­on in Lagos, the Chief Executive Officer, PTV, Mr. Banji Adesanmi said the company organises an annual customer reward promotion that has run for two years.

‘’The promo is to buy a phone worth three thousand naira from any of the company offices statewide and a raffle draw ticket would be issued instantly and that qualifies the customer for the draw. And other consolatio­n prizes are given to different customers every week which 20 finalists were drawn from the company’s 14 branches for the final raffle draw’’ he said.

Mr. Abiodun Akano, an agent of Ikeja Disco centre, who bought N15, 000 Opsson’s phone- double Sim, won the star prize of Hyundai Accent Car.

Akano expressed joy of becoming a brand new car owner. He thanked the company for an uncompromi­sable and well conducted promo.
