Nigeria Ranks 47th in Global Index Connectivity

The recent Global Connectivity Index (GCI) ratings released by Huawei, ranked Nigeria 47, out of 50 countries that were surveyed. It however rated Nigeria among the top three emerging broadband markets.
According to the survey, Nigeria has a small fixed base but huge potential in the uptake of mobile products as she is one of the world’s largest mobile subscriber markets and offers impressive opportunities primarily in the mobile broadband space, where rapid m-Commerce uptake is driving market growth.
The survey also ranked Nigeria as the highest number of internet users in Africa, all of which accumulates to an improved potential within the country.
From the ranking, majority of developed countries are ‘leaders’ in the Global Index Connectivity survey, as the United States ranks the high- est among surveyed countries with Sweden, Singapore and Switzerland are following each other on the ranking list.
Chile, China, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), top the list of developing markets, with all three ranking below twenty in the overall global ranking.
The Global Connectivity Index ratings were released at the Huawei Cloud Congress (HCC) West Africa 2015 in Lagos recently.
The survey covered 50 countries including Nigeria, as well as 90 per cent of the world’s population. The GCI survey sheds light on the growing opportunities around the world.
