NACCIMA New Director General Assumes Office
The Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) has appointed a new Director General, Barrister. Emmanuel Cobham to guide the association to success in its quest to be the mouth piece of the Organised Private Sector (OPS)
NACCIMA in a statement issued to THISDAY, said Cobham who is a lawyer, journalist, broadcaster, and administrator par excellence,is also an orator and wordsmith endowed with an excellent inter-personal, communication, and administrative skills.
Cobham, with vast experience spending about 25 years in the public and the private sector managing information and providing leadership, also has wide and varied experience which he garnered working at senior levels in the state, national and international organisations.
NACCIMA stated that he had also served as a correspondent on the network service of NTA, served four different Military Administrators and one civilian Governor of Cross River State as Chief Press Secretary and Director of Press Affairs from 1992 to 1999.
NACCIMA pointed out that he worked briefly at the African Union Commission, AU, as a Legal Officer in the Security Arrangements and Ceasefire Commission, one of the three Commissions during the 7th Round of the Talks on the future of Darfur in Abuja, thus putting him in a good stead to appreciate the workings of International organisations.
“These experiences coupled with his wide exposure especially his involvement in the running and functioning of an Non Governmental Organisation (NGO), has sharpened his skills for life’s tasks and challenges,” NACCIMA said.
“As a Mass Communicator, Lawyer and Management scholar, Cobham has carved a niche in the development sector of the economy. His interest in entrepreneurial training and development makes him hands on in the business sector,” he said.
According to NACCIMA, he had served as Executive Secretary, Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, (MAN) Cross River / Akwa Ibom States Branch, and lately, Executive Secretary of the Calabar Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture before assuming office as the Director General, Nigerian Association of Chambers, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, NACCIMA.
Cobham attended Apapa Baptist Primary School, Lagos; Gaskiya College, Cardoso, Lagos; Community Secondary School, Ugep; University of Lagos, (UNILAG); University of Calabar, (UNICAL); Imo State University (IMSU); Television College, Jos and the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Lagos and also holds a Certificate in Entrepreneurship Development from the Central Bank Entrepreneurship Development Center Calabar. He holds LLB, BL, MBA, Dip (Mass Comm.)
NACCIMA added that he is a member of several organisations and associations such as the Nigerian Bar Association, Nigerian Institute of Management, NIM, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, NIPR, Nigerian Union of Journalist, and the Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria, IPMN.
