ITF Challenges Trainees on Skills Acquisition
Trainees under the Industrial Training Fund, (ITF’s) training programmes have been urged to brace up and live up to the high academic and performance standards expected of them, in order for them to contribute their quota towards national development.
This admonition came, even as the ITF said it remained committed towards its objectives of producing middle and high level skilled manpower that will drive the nation’s economy forward, through the provision of global standards technical and vocational education that will eradicate unemployment, particularly amongst youths.
Highlighting how the fund is initiating proactive measures to achieve its mandate, the Director General of ITF, Dr. Juliet Chukkas-Onaeko, said students under its training programmes are challenged to impart knowledge provided by the fund, and take charge of leading the nation and the continent into an era of sustainable economic development.
A statement also quoted her to have said the vision of economic leadership can only be achieved when adequate attention and commitment is shown by all stakeholders in the quest to imbibe youths with continuous vocational and technical training knowledge that can create jobs and entrepreneurial opportunities for them and other citizens.
The ITF DG noted while Nigerian students has excelled in various technical and vocational opportunities around the world, that it was important for those getting the benefits of the world class training that the Fund provides in Nigeria to make the most of it, become entrepreneurs and contribute to the development of the economy.
Advising the students against activities that are capable of derailing their goals in life, she urged the beneficiaries of the fund’s training opportunities to consider themselves opporturned,considering that ITF graduates still remains “hot cakes” in terms of employment, job creation and entrepreneurship in the nation’s industrial sector.
Domestic carriers can now operate into 18 airports in the country after 6:00 pm as the federal government has announced that by July 13, all the existing airports would have airfield lighting installed in their runways.
This will enable flights to land in these airports in the night, so airlines can now reschedule their flights beyond 6:00 pm to these airports which include Yola, Ilorin, Sokoto, Owerri and Calabar airports. Others include the airports in Kaduna, Enugu, Benin and others.
