Anambra Wins ANCOPSS Quiz Three Consecutive Times
Anambra State has continued to show its leading position in the Nigerian education sector with the latest feat by the representative of the state in the just-concluded 2015 All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS) Quiz competition organised for Nigerian students.
Master Anthony Nnaemeka Umeh of Igwebuike Grammar School, Awka came tops in this year’s ANCOPSS Quiz Competition organised for all schools in Nigeria as a way of enhancing academic performance of students. With his success, Anambra State will retain the cup, being the third consecutive time students from the state will be winning the cup.
ANCOPSS organises the guiz and essay competitions annually for all schools in the country as a way of enhancing students’ performance.
In the essay, Miss Okoro Chiazagom Emmanuella of Queen of the Rosary College (QRC), Onitsha came second.
Normally, the ANCOPSS competition starts from the various states at the local government level, then first place winners move to compete at the state level from where they move to compete at the zonal level, and from the six geopolitical zones, the national competitors emerge.
Reacting to the outstanding performance of students of the state, Governor Willie Obiano restated his administration’s commitment to continue improving infrastructure and manpower in schools at all levels.
Obiano was welcomed into office in early 2014 with the news of the successful performance of candidates from the state who came first among all the states in the country whose candidates took the 2013 National Examinations Council ( NECO) examination.
The NECO success came barely a week after the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) statistics showed that the state came first among all the states in the country in the 2013 WASSCE.
