Warri Wolves Storm Dolisie without Salami

- Abuja in

Olawale Ajimotokan Nigeria’s last team standing in continental campaign this season, Warri Wolves have concluded plans to arrive in the Congolese town of Dolisie tomorrow for the CAF Confederation Cup play-off, first leg against homers AC Leopards on Sunday.

A 30-man contingent will travel aboard an Ethiopian Airline from the Murtala Muhammed International Airport and transit in Addis Ababa before flying to Dolisie, a city with which a couple of Nigerian teams are familiar.

Wolves’ top striker, Gbolahan Salami, will not be available for the side’s clash against the Leopards. Salami is on card suspension while two additions were made in former Sunshine Stars strongman, Solomon Kwambe and Okiemute Odah.

Leopards eliminated Nigerian teams Heartland FC and Kano Pillars from continental club competitions some years ago, albeit on the away goals rule, and will be confident hosting the Warri boys.

The Congolese team was eliminated from this year’s CAF Champions League by Smouha of Egypt – incidentally the same Egyptian side that eliminated Nigerian representatives Enyimba FC.

Wolves have an impressive record in this year’s competition, winning five of their six matches and drawing the other – 0- 0 against Dedebit FC away in Ethiopia after a 2- 0 first leg win.

In the preliminary round, the Paul Aigbogun boys pipped Racing Club BoboDioulasso 1- 0 in Burkina Faso and then swept to a three-goal win in the return. In the second round, they edged FC Etancheite of Democratic Republic of Congo 2- 1 in Warri before winning 1- 0 in Kinshasa.

The Nigerian flagbearers prepared for this weekend’s clash by hitting Nasarawa United 4- 1 in a Glo Premier League Week 8 match at the Warri City Stadium on Sunday.
