IDL Donates Classrooms to Community
Intercontinental Distillers Limited has commissioned four classrooms and two offices in Ilogbo Asowo Community High School, Ota, Ogun State.
The project, which is part of the company’s effort at giving back to the society, was commissioned in celebration of the 72nd birthday of the Onilogbo of Ilogbo, Samuel Ojugbele who was the facilitator of the project.
The new four classrooms were meant to reduce overcrowded classrooms in the school. MD Intercontinental Distillers, Mr. Patrick Anegbe, an engineer, while speaking at the commissioning said the building is one of the gestures through which the company identifies itself with the progress of the local community, state and country at large.
“It is our great believe that this project will go a long way in contributing to the growth in the standard of education in our society. A good and conducive environment is a prerequisite to effective learning and quality education which offers children the opportunity to realize their dreams,” he said.
He noted that the gesture was instigated by the royal father Kabiyesi Samuel Ojugbele who saw the need to make the learning environment more suitable for the students.
“In line with this belief and on the request of his royal majesty, the company committed to the building of additional classrooms and offices.
The Oba made a personal appeal to our company to provide additional classrooms to cater for the ever-growing population of the school.”
Also speaking at the handing over ceremony, the Onilogbo of Ilogbo said he was touched by the condition of the students when he visited the school.
He said the classrooms available were congested and he took it upon himself to provide additional classes to ease the problem.
According to him, he laid the foundation of the building with the hope of commissioning it on his 70th birthday but he could not continue due to financial constraints.
