Spirit of Lagos Comes Alive

Billed for May 27 this year the Spirit of Lagos has concluded plans to honour different categories of persons and organisations at an award ceremony as part of efforts to ensure that the civic responsibility and selfless dedicated acts of some residents and corporate organisations in Lagos state are recognised.
The 2015 the Spirit of Lagos also known as a behavioural transformation initiative is tagged ‘Citizens’ Day. It is part of its activities to encourage residents of the state to restore, share and protect the values that made Lagos great.
The Project Director, Mr. Olaniyi Omotoso, said this at a press briefing held in Ikeja recently
. “The Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola will chair the occasion to commemorate the 48th year of the state. And it will be in three categories including: individual, public service and corporate organiza- tions.”
“The individual category comprises Lifetime Achievement Award – for an elderly citizen, living or dead, who has impacted positively on the state; Award for Community Development – for a citizen who has impacted positively on his/her community; Award for Exceptional Community – for a community that has been able to do exceptional things through collaborative efforts; and Award for Exceptional Youth – for a young resident between 18 and 25 years old with a strong commitment to societal good.
The Public Service categories, he said, are the Lifetime Achievement Award, Role Model Award and Rising Star Award to be awarded to civil servants who have demonstrated dedication and excellent performances in the discharge of their duties.
“The corporate organizations category will recognize and honour socially responsible corporate bodies – multinationals.
