Bayelsans ‘ll Vote Dickson Out, Etifa Vows

- Segun James

inYenagoa The battle of supremacy between the supporters of President Goodluck Jonathan and Governor Seriake Dickson over the control of the political soul of Bayelsa state has continued to rage as the Governor yesterday publicly revoked the contracts awarded to some top politicians, while also accusing them of blackmail.

The Governor, who has been at battle drawn with the President’s loyalists, cried that he was a battle tested politician and expressed readiness to do battle with anyone who crosses his path.

At the monthly transparency briefing of his stewardship in the state, Dickson specifically singled out presidential senior special assistant on domestic affairs, Dr. Waripamowei Dudafa and former commissioner in the state, Mr. Bekeakpo Etifa as those against his government and engaging in political blackmail while executing government contracts under his government. He insisted that such contracts have been revoked with immediate effect.

But reacting to Dickson’s outburst, Mr. Bekeapo Etifa in a telephone interview with THISDAY, accused the Governor of chasing shadows, adding that Bayelsans will vote Dickson out in the November election because they have discovered that he does not have the capacity to run the state.

He expressed regret that besides being vindictive, corrupt and greedy, all Dickson has succeeded in achieving was polarising the polity and alienating the political leadership in the state. He challenged Dickson to name one single political leader that is still with him besides his family members and that of his wife.

“Dickson is fighting everybody from the First Lady to past and serving senators, legislators and all known political leaders from the state. Let him come out and point one single leader in the state that is still with him including all those that helped him to become the governor. He is a total failure, and Bayelsans are going to vote him out.
