Speaker: Tambuwal Can’t Impose Dogara on Us, Says Madaki
in Abuja A fresh allegation that the outgoing Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, may be the sole force behind the aspiration of Hon. Yakubu Dogara (APC, Bauchi), to succeed him is now on the lips of some legislators ahead of the June 6 election of the number four man by members of the House.
This allegation was made by Hon. Aliyu Sani Madaki (APC, Kano), who as a pro-Femi Gbajabiamila lawmaker in the forthcoming contest, maintained that the out-going Speaker can’t foist Dogara on the 8th Assembly.
Madaki, who initially shied away from naming names, later ham- mered on this issue insisting that Tambuwal is supporting Dogara for selfish reasons.
Efforts to hear from Tambuwal’s side didn’t yield any fruit as the telephone of his spokesperson, Imam Imam, was switched off.
Madaki also stated that another reason that Dogara shouldn’t be the next Speaker is because of the way he (Dogara), as House committee chairman of House Services, allegedly mismanaged the finances of the lower chamber.
But legislators loyal to Dogara saw the matter differently and insisted that his performance in that position is stellar and should be rewarded by them giving him their votes to be the Speaker of the 8th Assembly of the House.
