Adams, Iara Oshiomhole in Marital Bliss

-

Not too many saw it coming. But a few who are really close to him had long anticipated it. But like all men that want to enjoy the beauty of matrimony, Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole had a date with history on Friday, May 15, when he took former air hostess, Iara Forte, to the altar in a grand ceremony.

The couple signed the dotted lines at a private marriage registry attended by family members and a few friends at his Iyambo residence, while a colourful reception was held at the People White Hall in the governor’s country home.

The former NLC president lost his first wife, Clara, to a cancer- related ailment in 2010. For five years, he mourned his late wife while also combining the onerous responsibility of raising their children with the challenges of administering Edo State.

Society Happenings gathered that Oshiomhole first stepped out sometime ago with the 29- year- old beauty from Cape Verde during the 50th birthday of Grace Ihonvbere, wife of the Secretary to the State Government, in Abuja. Since then, tongues had been wagging until the ‘ love- struck birds’ formally sealed their courtship in a ceremony that is still the talk of town. During the widely- publicised wedding ceremony, Oshiomhole danced out his heart. All his children from his late wife, Steve, Adams Jnr, and Jane, except Winifred who allegedly complained that she was not properly informed, were present at the wedding ceremony. Society Happenings gathered that the parents of the bride, Mr. and Mrs. Fortes, flew in from their home in the Netherlands to attend the ceremony while the governor’s mother, Aishetu, was also in attendance.

The wedding ceremony was attended by eminent personalities from across the country. The roll call of guests include: Presidentelect, Muhammadu Buhari; Vice- President- elect, Mr. Yemi Osinbajo, SAN; Oil mogul, Mr. Femi Otedola; Africa’s richest man, Alhaji Aliko Dangote; APC National leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu; Senator Bukola Saraki, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, All Progressives Party National Chairman, John Odigie- Oyegun; and Mr. Jim Ovia. The Oba of Benin was represented by high ranking palace chiefs. The Inspector- General of Police, Solomon Arase, former Governors Kayode Fayemi, Oserheimen Osunbor, Senator Tunde Ogbeha; Osaigbovo Ogbemudia and Niyi Adebayo were also in attendance.
